History
The Doula Project was founded in 2008 by three New York City-based doulas who sought to expand the doula model of care to encompass the entire "spectrum" of pregnancy -- recognizing that while not every pregnancy ends in birth, all pregnant women deserve the kind of support that a doula is trained to provide. Inspired by The Doula Project, groups all over the United Sates have begun their own doula projects, adapting services to fit the needs of their communities. The LA Doula Project is the first organization of its kind to offer full-spectrum reproductive support services to Los Angeles Families.
