Birth Outcomes

The doula will provide information and support for a woman's pregnancy and birth options in accordance with the traditional, informed choice model for doula care. She will assist in finding techniques to help the mother through the birth process -- engaging her family and/or other companions whenever possible. The doula administers continuous, compassionate support throughout the birth and is available for post-partum support, including assistance with breastfeeding.

 

Non-Birth Outcomes

The doula will meet with the client before the procedure to establish a connection, help the client relax, and answer questions. During the procedure, the doula will assist with non-medical pain management techniques, including breathing techniques, light massage, and hand holding. After the procedure, the doula will follow up with the client and provide contact information for further support and resources as needed.
